Mbeleko
Safety Tips
Please take the time to read these safety
tips;
it may save your baby from serious injury.
Having
your baby in an Mbeleko sling is no substitute for common sense and responsible
parenting! Please pay attention to your baby at all times.
Your baby is not strapped in - little hands reach out and explore and wiggly
children are very apt at getting out of any position. Please use your Mbeleko
only with a cooperative child.
It is a good idea to practice before you start
using your Mbeleko. Try it with teddy bear or a sack
of potatoes the first few times.
Until
you are comfortable with your sling
always keep one hand on your baby for safety.
Hold onto your baby whenever bending over or moving quickly,
you don't want them falling out.
Take care when moving through doorways or around corners, your
baby's head and limbs can extend beyond your body.
Swap positions regularly, it is a good idea to
change positions regularly so as to exercise both yours and baby's joints
equally and to avoid strain and pain.
Our fabrics are not flame retardant, take great
care if you are around hot beverages or stovetops whilst wearing baby in an
Mbeleko. We suggest that you only cook whilst your baby is in the back carry
position. Please take great care.
Keep your tail out of the harms way, tails may
get caught in doors or similar. It can be a good idea to tuck your tail into
the sling when busy.
Keep dangerous items out of hands reach or don't
stand to close to benches or shelves, this is especially true if in the kitchen
or supermarket.
An Mbeleko sling is not
a replacement for a car seat in a motor vehicle;
doing so may result in serious injury to your child.
Do not carry your baby in an Mbeleko sling whilst doing
strenuous exercise.
Do not put anything other than your baby in your Mbeleko,
they may cause injury to your baby. Most of our slings have a pocket for small
items like your keys or wallet.
Before each use check your Mbeleko is in good
condition, worn or frayed seams and fabrics compromise
the integrity of your Mbeleko sling. Please discontinue use under such circumstances.
